Pastor Patrick Jones
Patrick Jones is in his fourth year of full-time pastoral ministry. He is a native of Chapel Hill and has served as a ministry intern at Haw River UMC and a Mission & Outreach leader at Orange UMC in Chapel Hill. He was commissioned as a provisional elder in the North Carolina Annual Conference in June 2019 and fully ordained in June 2021.
Patrick earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems and Management from Appalachian State University. Upon graduating, Patrick spent nine years working with state and federal contracts focusing on IT security and website accessibility before responding to the call into ministry. He graduated from Hood Theological Seminary in May 2018.
Patrick is passionate about sharing God’s word with others through relationship building, worship leading, and Bible study. He enjoys working with others to discern how God might be calling them to do/be a part of Christ’s body. Patrick is also passionate about missions and outreach, as being the hands and feet of Christ to the world around us is a great way to build relationships. Patrick has led or been a part of the leadership teams of multiple mission trips to Eastern Africa as well as a host of other local and domestic missions projects.
Patrick is also enthusiastic about the 4th Commandment. It's the only one that starts with "remember" - maybe because we are forgetful people! Patrick loves to hear about other people's Sabbath memories. Often, they are strongly connected to food.
Patrick participates in Sabbath Life at the Farm which is a ministry under Life Around the Table. It's a once a month Sabbath day with other clergy, where they gather around the Communion table and the dining table and share life together.
In September 2021, Patrick will celebrate 13 years of marriage to his wife, Shannon. Together they enjoy spending time with their dogs Hoover and Wesley (Great Dane and Beagle respectively) and caring for other animals. They still have a small farm in Chapel Hill where they raise endangered, heritage-breed pigs.
